Balearic Estates
Q1 2023

Project Overview
Balearic Estates is premium web concept designed as a diploma project for the intensive 350-hour course Digital Designer course directed by Art Director Tom Biskup.
The primary business objective was to design an exclusive, highly intuitive responsive website tailored to High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs) seeking luxury real estate. The design needed to balance high-end editorial aesthetics with frictionless usability to build immediate trust and drive quality broker leads.

I adapted the Double Diamond framework to structure my research and discovery phase.

User Interviews
I conducted targeted interviews with potential users within the luxury market segment to uncover their specific behaviors and pain points.
Key User Insights:
The Value of Time: High-end clients demand an efficient, tailored browsing experience. They expect a sense of digital exclusivity and highly personalized service touchpoints.
Visual-First Decision Making: Editorial-grade imagery and clear, uncluttered property data are non-negotiable for initial emotional engagement.
Competitive evaluation
I analyzed leading global luxury real estate platforms to map industry benchmarks and uncover UX opportunities.
The Gap: While competitors utilized sophisticated visual design, many suffered from overly complex filter systems and fragmented property detail pages that distracted from the estate itself.
The UX Opportunity: Position Balearic Estates as an oasis of calm. By leveraging generous white space, a clean visual hierarchy, and an effortless navigation model, the platform elevates the property presentation to an art form.

Problem Statement
Wealthy real estate buyers seeking premium properties in the Balearic Islands need an elegant, highly trustworthy digital platform that provides curated property details and offers an immediate, sophisticated communication channel with dedicated estate agents.
Conversion Benchmarks
To bridge the gap between user experience and business needs, I defined two primary conversion benchmarks:
Lead quality over quantity: Attract serious buyers by designing an immersive portfolio layout that filters out casual browsers.
Frictionless inquiries: Optimize the conversion funnel by embedding elegant, low-friction contact entry points and direct-dial components across high-intent screens.

The visual identity draws direct inspiration from the rustic, minimalist architecture of the Balearic Islands.
Typography & Layout: I selected a sophisticated, clean typography scale paired with a spacious layout, allowing the property photography to act as the primary design asset.
Responsive Execution: The entire ecosystem was designed responsively for desktop and mobile breakpoints, integrating subtle micro-interactions to mimic the tactile feel of a high-end luxury brand.

To ensure a potential and effortless transition to engineering in the future, I developed a comprehensive design handoff package. This included a scalable component style guide, responsive typography matrices, annotated behavior wireframes, and high-fidelity interactive prototypes to guarantee that visual fidelity is maintained precisely during final production.
